Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the difference between Arabica and Robusta coffee? Arabica and Robusta are the two main species of coffee beans. Arabica beans are known for their smoother, sweeter taste with complex flavors, while Robusta beans are stronger, more bitter, and contain higher caffeine content. Arabica is typically grown at higher altitudes and is more expensive, while Robusta is hardier and often used in espresso blends or instant coffee.

2. How should I store coffee to keep it fresh? Store coffee beans or grounds in an airtight container in a cool, dark, and dry place, like a pantry. Avoid keeping coffee in the fridge or freezer, as moisture and odors can affect the flavor. For the best taste, use freshly roasted coffee within 2-4 weeks.

 3. What’s the best way to brew coffee? The "best" method depends on your preference! Popular options include drip coffee makers (for convenience), French press (for rich flavor), pour-over (for control and clarity), or espresso machines (for bold, concentrated coffee). Experiment with different methods to find what suits your taste.

 4. How much caffeine is in a cup of coffee? Caffeine content varies based on the type of coffee and brewing method. On average, an 8 oz (240 ml) cup of brewed coffee contains 80-100 mg of caffeine. Espresso (1 oz/30 ml) has about 60-65 mg, while instant coffee might have 26-40 mg per cup.

 5. What’s the difference between light, medium, and dark roast? - Light Roast: Milder flavor, higher acidity, and more caffeine; beans are light brown. - Medium Roast: Balanced flavor, aroma, and acidity; beans are medium brown. - Dark Roast: Bold, smoky taste with less acidity and caffeine; beans are dark brown to nearly black. The roast level affects taste more than quality—it's all about preference!

 6. Is coffee good for my health? In moderation, coffee can have health benefits, like improved focus, antioxidants, and potential links to reduced risk of certain diseases (e.g., Parkinson’s or Type 2 diabetes). However, too much coffee can cause jitters, insomnia, or digestive issues. Consult a doctor for personalized advice.

 7. What does “single-origin” coffee mean? Single-origin coffee comes from one specific region or farm, highlighting unique flavors tied to that area’s climate and soil. It’s different from blends, which mix beans from multiple places for a consistent taste.

 8. Why does coffee taste bitter? Bitterness can come from over-roasting, over-extraction (brewing too long), or low-quality beans. To reduce bitterness, use fresh beans, grind them just before brewing, and adjust your brew time or water temperature (ideal is 195-205°F or 90-96°C).

 9. Can I reuse coffee grounds? You can, but it’s not recommended for brewing. Used grounds lose most of their flavor and caffeine after the first brew. They’re better repurposed for gardening, composting, or as a natural scrub.

 10. What’s the difference between cold brew and iced coffee? Cold brew is made by steeping coarse coffee grounds in cold water for 12-24 hours, resulting in a smooth, less acidic drink. Iced coffee is brewed hot (usually double strength) and then cooled and poured over ice, which can dilute it slightly.

 11. What is your returns policy for ground coffee and beans? We want you to love your coffee! If you’re not satisfied with your purchase of ground coffee or whole beans, you may return unopened, unused products within 30 days of delivery for a full refund or exchange. Due to the perishable nature of coffee, we cannot accept returns of opened bags unless the product is defective (e.g., spoiled or contaminated). Please contact our customer service team with your order number to initiate a return, and we’ll provide instructions for shipping it back. Shipping costs for returns are the customer’s responsibility unless the item was damaged or incorrect.

 12. What is the delivery lead time for coffee coming from a supplier in the Dominican Republic? Delivery lead time from a supplier in the Dominican Republic typically ranges from 2 to 6 weeks, depending on your location, shipping method, and customs processing. For standard sea shipping to the United States or Europe, expect 3-6 weeks from the time the order ships, including transit time (e.g., 10-20 days from ports like Santo Domingo to major hubs like Miami or Rotterdam) and customs clearance. Air shipping can reduce this to 5-10 business days, though it’s more expensive. Lead times may vary due to factors like order volume, supplier processing (e.g., roasting and packaging), or seasonal shipping delays.
